First Annual Edibles Derby – Fishing Competition

prize giving

We hosted our first Rock and Surf competition and whilst the fishing was tough we believe that a good time was had by all, especially looking at the smiles on some of the faces.

Over R40k in prizes given away!

Firstly we would like to thank ALL of our awesome sponsors who made it possible for us to host a successful event with over R40 000 in prizes up for grabs. In particular thanks to Adrenalin, Pure FIshing, IFISH, The Kingfisher and WET sports.

Secondly but as importantly, thank you to each and every angler who registered and supported us on the day. We had a total of 72 entries and whilst we had many more people interested we had to cap the entries for the first time to make sure everything ran smoothly. Each angler received an Eddlesgas weigh mat, as well as a boerewors roll and soft drink included in their entry fee which also gave them entry into the lucky draw.

In total we had 20 Angling prizes and 6 lucky draws that could be awarded. However, as the fishing was tough and not all the angling prizes could be legitimately claimed, it was decided that those not awarded would become part of the lucky draw. We were blown away by the support of the 60 odd anglers that attended the prize giving despite the fact that the great majority of them blanked, and thus the decision to award all of the prizes even if it was in lucky draw format.

Winners
Our Main Prize winner walked away with a Rod worth over R7000

We did have legitimate winners in the main categories however which included the top angler of the day with the biggest total bag, Michael Payne, the winner of the awesome Assassin Horizon

Grinder Rod.
Nicolas Goldschmidt and Colin Dick won the prizes for the biggest Kob and biggest Galjoen respectively whilst Caleb Vengadajellum bagged the biggest edible with a lovely Belman specimen.

We thank everyone for their support, and we hope to make this competition even bigger and better next year.
